Notice he is wearing a 3rd Army shoulder Patch. Evidently this ceremony took place after V-E Day
in Czechoslovakia. Notice the soldier on he extreme left is wearing the big A 1st Army patch, to which the 146th ECB belonged during all of WW II.
These recipients of the Bronze Star are unidentified except S/Sgt Beauchamp, 2nd from the right. If anyone can ID the other three, please advise the Webmaster by email.

An interesting account submitted by Wesley Ross
While I was Reconnaissance Officer of the 146th ECB, I had an encouter with a 38th Cavalry patrol vehicle just like the one above. This happened at the time the Germans were dropping paratroopers dressed in US GI uniforms behind our lines in the Huertgen Forest, early one morning in really cold weather.
I had left on my assignment of the day with my Jeep driver (for the life of me I cannot recall his name) before the day's password had been issued, a foolish thing to do under the circumtances.
We were going over some backwoods trail when lo and behold we ran into this heavily armed vehicle headed in our direction! Both of us stopped, there was not enough room for us to pass each other on this dirt road.
I hailed the guy in the turret with a HI FELLOWS ! Only to be challenged with the day's password, to which of
course we did not have the counter response............. guess what happened then.
We were taken prisoner !
They escorted us back to their Command Post where we were held and questioned for several hours (maybe 4-6?) until they were able to identity us by contacting our 146th Bn. HQ.
The Cavalry people suspected us of being Jerry paratroopers with a stolen Jeep.
I did not know the answers to some of the questions about Harry James and Ted Williams since I was a Cuban expatriate, ignoratnt about mundane things in the USA, and my Jeep driver was from the Louisiana bayous, making the situation even more precarious for us.
Captured by Friendly Troops!
Duuuuh!

This photograph of the Bridge
erected by Co. C's motley crew at Monschau
is posted here in recognition of the men who built it,
some of which have been identified.
From left to right in front: extreme left (1/2 face) Leroy Olson; next, Thomas Tubbs; next, Paul Gray; next, Kenneth Blair; and standing alone on extreme right, Charles light? ID source is not sure about this last one.
