MONTHLY REPORT AFTER ACTION AGAINST THE ENEMY
2. ATACHMENTS
(a) From 1st of May 1945 to 6th of May 1945, the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion was assigned to the First United States Army and attached to V Corps and further attached to 1121 Engineer Combat Group.
(b) From 6th of May 1945 to 9th of May 1945, the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion was assigned to the Third United States Army and attached to V Corps and further attached to 1121 Engineer Combat Group.
3. OPERATIONS
(a) Roads.
(1) .............Approximately 25 miles of roads were maintained during this period which required 205 cu yars of rock
for repairs. Other miscellaneous work carried out along assigned roads in V Corps Sector consisted in
destroying enemy ammunition and collecting Jerricans.
(b) Bridges
(1) Company "C" constructed 100 foot CL 40, TS, Bailey Bridge ................as of021730 6 May 1945.
(2) During the period from 1st of May 1945 to 9th of May 1945, miscellaneous repairs were made on bridges in our
assigned sector.
(c) Water Points.
(1) During the period of 1st of May 1945 to 9th of May 1945, the battalion operated four (4) water points with a
total output of 214,085 gallons.
(d) Miscellaneous.
(1) Numerous odd jobs were taken over by this battalion during the period from 1st of May 1945 to 9th May 1945.
They consisted of delousing three (3) warehouses, preparing bivouac are for the 128th Evacuation Hospital,
repairing 500 yards of fence located around V Corps Headquarters, guarding warehouses, guarding crashed
enemy aircraft, and furnishing ten (10) 2-1/2 ton trucks to Class III Truck Head No.512 for hauling gas.
(f) Enemy Activity.
(1) During the period 1st May 1945 to 9th May 1945, a total of 90 PW's who were either deserters or straglers of
which some were dressed in civilian clothes, were turned into V Corps PW cage.
(2) Five (5) German Officers and three (3) German NCO's were taken prisoner when they made a forced landing
with a twin-engined transport plane ...............as of 081600B May 1945.
