1. a. The FFI of Paris, reinforced by the entire police force which is estimated to be approximately 25,000
strong is in control of all the main city and the bridges leading to it from the West. The ammunition
supply of these forces is low and unless promptly relieved after noon Wednesday they may be
severely dealt with by the Germans if the latter decide to return to the city.
2. a. This GP will move, at a time (H-Hour) to be announced, to an assembly area at CHOISEL via IP
SEES -- MORTAGNE -- LONGAY -- FONTAIN SIMON -- CHATEANEUF EN THYMERAIS --
MAINTENON -- RAMBUILLET -- CHIOSEL. Order of march will be: 112 Engr C Bn, Hq & Hq Co

1. In accordance with provisions of letter, same subject as above, file 319.1/401 (C), Headquarters, First United States Army, dated 13 July 44, the following Monthly Report is submitted for the month of August 1944.

MONTHLY REPORT AFTER ACTION AGAINST THE ENEMY
1. From the 1st of August 1944 to 11th August 1944, the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion was assigned to the First
United States Army and attached to V Corps and further attached to the 1121st Engineer Combat Group. From the 11th of August 1944 to 19th August 1944, the unit was attached to VII Corps. From the 19th of August 1944 to 31st of August 1944, the unit was attached to V Corps. During the entire month the Battalion was engaged in general engineering work in the corps area.
2. The Battalion had no combat missions during the month of August 1944, but performed routine engineer missions in the Corps area.
b. Mines
(1) Company "B" removed minefield in orchard .........in vicinity of Torigny Sur - Vire a
total of 21 teller mines were found.
(2) Company "C" swept area and cut openings in hedge-rows for ASP 105 ........in vicinity
of Torigny Sur-Vire. Approximately 25 fields were included in the area. One R-4 dozer,
one D-7 dozer, and eight detector crews were used.
(3) Company "A" removed a booby trap, utilizing a German rifle grenade from bed in a
house......in vicinity of Torigny Sur-Vire.
(4) Company "C" checked area near Troisgote........per orders 1121st Engr C Group. One
mine had been exploded by a cow, injuring two people, and one other mine was found
on side of road, exposed and top down.
(5) Company "A" swept field .........at request of QM bakery. No mines found.
(6) Buildings checked for civil affairs, for booby traps, etc., in Torigny Sur-Vire. No booby
traps found.

d. Quarries
(1) A total of two quarries were operated by the Battalion during the period and 173 yards
of gravel were produced.
e. Water Points
(1) During the month, the Battalion S-4 operated an average of two water points and
produced 267,555 gallons of water.
f. Miscellaneous
(1) Company "B" cleared debris from streets and felled dangerous walls in Torigne* Sur-Vire.
(2) Power saw and operator furnished 507th MP Company to rip 2 x 4's into 2 x by 2's
(3) Company "C" constructed War Room and shelters for V Corps.
(4) Company "A" cleared debris from streets in Mortain.
(5) Company "A" constructed a concertina fence for V Corps PW camp .......in vicinity of Sees.
(6) Company "C" constructed gun emplacement for 110th AAA in vicinity of Paris.
